Journey of a Painting--Food Chain

Food Chain, June 15, 2012

Months ago I designed a more organized version of "Food Web" (see image at the bottom of this post) and put it on a small drawing. Eventually it found it's way to a half sheet of watercolor paper.  The drawing sat for quite awhile until I   took it out and put these washed on the layers. Again it was on pause until, at a point of desperation for something to paint, I pulled it out and did some detail work on it.

I continued working on the piece here and there. Finally, I pulled it out yesterday, worked a few minutes on it, sent it to a friend for a critique. She declared it done, and I took her word for it--I'd run out of time.

My Sister Janice--70, Really?

Janice chillin' in Blue River

My sister Janice is having a 70th birthday party this weekend. Her actual birthday is in March, but
summer is when her two sons and their families from Canada and (soon to be) Egypt can return to the U.S. for vacations. It is so wonderful to have her kids and all but one of their kids here in Blue River. (Blue River, Oregon is a well-know vacation spot for Expats and jet setters!)

Being around her grandchildren certainly brings out her inner child.
