Three Entry Results

In the last month and a half, I've entered three paintings in juried shows and put together a proposal to have an exhibit at the DIVA Gallery in Eugene. Out of the four potential exhibits, I'd told myself I'd be happy if I got 2 acceptances. When entering for the WSO (Watercolor Society of Oregon) and HWS (Hawaii Watercolor Society), you know it will be over a month between entering and hearing the results.

With the Eugene Mayor's Show, the wait is only one week. On Saturday, Aug. 22 I left off "Sound Bites" and 6 days later I picked it up--the painting was rejected. Boo-hoo! But I had three other things in the mix.

Sound Bites

Yesterday I got the results from the HWS in the mail. "Orchid Eruption" was accepted in the 2009 Hawaii Watercolor Society Open exhibit.

And Today I heard that my entry for the WSO 2009 Fall Show was also accepted.

Caribbean Cornrows II

So now I am pleased, as I said I would be, with my efforts. Two paintings are in shows and one was rejected. I have to admit, I still look for outside approval of my art, but I also feel my own artistic growth internally and that drives me to go out to the studio to create another piece.

I'm happy, but would it be greedy to keep hoping for an exhibit at DIVA? I'll let you know when I hear from them.

Hi Margaret,

It is the Mayor's Art Show's loss........ Out of the three, I like the orchids best, but the other two are nice. I love what you have been doing with textures! I try to read your blog when you send out an email.

Hey, Margaret:

We are fantastic! It is exciting to be juried into WSO. I also have been juried into the Coos Art Museum Biennial in October, along with several others in G.B.
Because we are going to Denver for a Peace Corps reunion, we won’t go to WSO this time. We’ve hardly missed any since I was accepted, but we promised others to go to Denver.

I have enjoyed your blog. Watching the progress on the Caribbean Cornrows was illuminating. Are you planning to put it all together into a book?

Later, Pat

Congratulations Margaret on your great paintings and their acceptances! Sorry to hear of the difficult decisions with your mom...but it sound like it is going pretty well now. Loved seeing your darling grand kids. We just hear that our son and his wife are expecting in March...so I will be a grandma, too! Can't wait! Kara

Congratulations to you also--I saw the title Caribbean Cornrows II and thought that must be the painting you had on the blog you were working on earlier.

Congratulations! (The Mayor's art show is not so grand -- I always thing the Salon des Refusees is a better show).

See you soon. Janice
